Our approach
Vandalia Music Therapy is grounded in evidence-based practice and individualized, client-centered care. Music therapy interventions are selected based on current research, clinical expertise, and the unique strengths, needs, and goals of each client. Services are designed to support meaningful progress in areas such as communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, motor skills, cognitive functioning, and overall engagement.
As a board-certified music therapist with advanced training in Neurologic Music Therapy® (NMT), Shauna incorporates music-based techniques informed by neuroscience research and the therapeutic relationship between music and the brain. Neurologic Music Therapy® is an evidence-based clinical treatment system that uses structured musical interventions to support cognitive, motor, speech/language, and psychosocial functioning.
Whenever appropriate, services are provided collaboratively alongside families, educators, therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to support continuity of care and functional outcomes across settings.
